Evangelism 101

If you joined us last week for the first sermon in the new series, then you know that we are beginning the year talking about evangelizing or sharing the gospel with people. This past week we discussed the worries and fears that all too often keep us from stepping out and sharing the good news with people.

One of the things we talked about is how each of us has been gifted differently to be able to share the good news of Christ. Just as we are told in 1 Corinthians 12, each one of us is different. God has made each of us with different personalities, gifts, abilities and talents. With all of these differences God has placed in us, each of us still is wired to be able to share the good news, just not in the same way.

Have you thought this week about how God has wired you? God doesn't want you to be someone you're not in order to share the gospel. As a matter of fact, being fake in order to entice someone is the opposite of what God wants you to be! Who you are in Christ is exactly who someone needs to meet. The story that brought you to faith and what God has done in your life is just what someone needs to hear.

Remember what we talked about this past week, the enemy wants you to see yourself and think I can never be effective, I can never have enough confidence, I can never make an impact. God sees you and says, "You are exactly who I need, let me help you be effective! In your weakness, my power is made perfect!"

Spend some time before we come together again this Sunday praying and asking God to reveal to you how he wants to use you to reach the people He puts in your path. Remember to put on that Armor (Ephesians 6) and let's get ready for what God has in store for us individually and as a local body!
